Over the past few weeks the Illuminate light show has been held at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens. This event has been running for a few years and is also held in Timaru and Nelson.
It has been a popular event for the whole family to attend as they were able to take a gander at the variety of differently themed displays on show.
As well as light shows in the trees and over water, there was a silent dance tent where people would wear headphones and listen to music. At least three different songs could be shared around with headphones of various colours playing a different song.
Displays included inflatable creatures that are lit up from the inside, while others also had interactive buttons that made fire raise up and made the display more fun to view.
There were a couple of merchandise tents set up so the crowd was also well lit up when walking the path during the night.
There was a seat which had butterfly wings on top that would move up and down when people swung back and forth which kept people entertained.
There were multiple food stalls for people to grab a bite to eat and sit down to relax, as well as a Ferris wheel for people to ride and see the lights from another perspective.
It was a reasonably priced event that felt worth it for a night out.
It took around 1.5hrs for us to get around from the time we waited in line to get in, until we finished.
People who were buying tickets at the gate had to wait in line a bit longer, so it was worth the booking fees to purchase online and guarantee entry on the night.
