White Ferns

The White Ferns got their T20 world cup off to a great start by beating India by 58 runs. India are the number 3 ranked T20 side so that would have been confidence boosting for the team. Unfortunately, the White Ferns got smacked by 60 runs to the number one ranked side Australia in their second game.

They face Sri Lanka (7th ranked) tomorrow night before facing Pakistan (8) on Tuesday. Sri Lanka have lost both of their games in group A so far. Anything less than a win by the White Ferns would be a disaster for their chances of progressing to the semi-finals.

Expectations are the White Ferns will make the semi-finals unless the weather or a horror game gets in the way.

Black Caps

The Black Caps kick off their tour to India with the first test starting on Wednesday at 5pm NZT. The current problem for the team is not being able to take enough wickets or score enough runs. Once they fix these issues the team could become competitive. We do not expect them to win the test and hope they can avoid an innings defeat.

Football

All Whites

The All Whites take on Tahiti in the first game of their World Cup qualifiers today at 3pm NZT. The game is held in Port Vila, Vanuatu and can be watched for free on FIFA+.

The All Whites have welcomed the services of Chris Wood and other overseas based players to strengthen the squad. They beat Tahiti 5-0 in June’s Nations cup and will hope to do the same later today.

The World Cup Qualifiers feature two draws of 4 teams, with the top two group finishers playing semi-finals.

The All Whites host Malaysia on Monday 14 Oct in an international friendly at North Harbour Stadium.

The World Cup qualifiers will then resume in November.
