White Ferns
The White Ferns won their last two pool games and made it into the semi-final to face the West Indies. Three teams were tied on 6 points in pool B with England missing out on net run rate. India were close to beating Australia which would have tied three teams in pool A on points.
The Semi-final begins at 3am Saturday.
South Africa have shocked Australia in the other semi-final by chasing down 134 runs in 17.2 overs.
This will give hope to the West Indies and NZ on being able to win the tournament. The West Indies won the 2016 tournament and will be keen to be the second team to win it more than once. Australia have won the tournament 6 times after England took out the first edition in 2009.
New Zealand did beat South Africa in a warm up game prior to the start of the tournament. They will feel they have a chance of claiming the title if they can make it to the Final on Monday 21st at 3am.
The White Ferns previous best finish was runner up in 2009 & 10.
Black Caps
The Black Caps have bowled India out for 46 in the first innings. They have then ended day 2 on 180/3 with a sizeable lead of 134.
Rain washed out the first day’s play and India decided to bat first. The weather will play a big part in NZ’s chances of winning the test. If the rain stays away then it will be NZ’s test to lose.
Drainage at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium is good, so if there is rain the field will clear quickly so play can continue. The issues that caused the match against Afghanistan to be abandoned will not be an issue if it is sunny.

NPC
A couple of upsets in the quarter-finals have seen Canterbury through to play BOP at 4.10 on Saturday. The other upset saw Waikato beat Taranaki and they will play Wellington at 7.10 on Saturday.
We predict Canterbury can continue on the form that saw them thrash Tasman 62-14 and beat BOP.
Wellington should also edge out Waikato to set up a Final in Wellington.
