White Ferns
WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!
Congratulations to the White Ferns for winning the T20 World Cup.
With the run of losses leading up to the World Cup it was never expected that they would win it. Great things can happen when you believe in yourself and the steps you are taking when moving towards your goals.
They are now facing India in a three match ODI series. They lost the first game last night by 59 runs. The second match starts on Sunday 27 October with the final game on Tuesday 29th. Both games start at 9pm.
Black Caps
The Black Caps won the first test in India by 8 wickets before lunch on the final day. The second test started yesterday and they were bowled out for 259. They made a good start and were in a position to put in a good first innings score after the 4th wicket fell for 197 runs.
India finished day 1 at 16/1 after 11 overs. The Black Caps will want to take early wickets on day two otherwise it could be a long day in the field.
Rugby
NPC
The Final is being played Saturday at 3.05 in Wellington vs Bay Of Plenty.
Bay of Plenty eased past Canterbury to take the win 32-20.
Wellington snuck past Waikato 29-24 and should also take the win tomorrow.
All Blacks
The All Blacks face Japan tomorrow night at 6.50pm.
They have selected a team with a balance of young talent and experienced heads.
The reason for doing so is the following week the All Blacks play England. It is a balance of getting in a good training week for players over in England. Team members would have to miss a couple of training days if they played in Japan. This should ensure the team that plays against England has no fatigue issues or excuses.
The All Blacks should beat Japan tomorrow even with the less experienced players. The All Blacks last played Japan in 2022 and won 38-31. We are hoping the margin of victory is more than 20 tomorrow.
Rugby League
The Kiwi Ferns and Kiwis are playing a double-header in Christchurch on Sunday.
The Kiwi Ferns kick-off at 3.35pm while the Kiwis follow at 6.05pm.
The Kiwi Ferns last game against the Jillaroos was a 12-6 win in Oct 2023.
The Kiwis last played the Kangaroos in Nov 2023 and won 30-0. We do not expect to see a scoreline like that but hope the Kiwis can still come out on the right side or the ledger.
The double-header is sold out so we expect a passionate crowd getting behind both Kiwi teams. We believe the support can see them both victorious.
Netball
The Constellation Cup against Australia has started with the Ferns winning by 14 & 11 points in the first two games played in NZ.
The next two matches are in Australia in Perth on Sunday 27 October and in Melbourne on Wednesday the 30th. Both games will start at 9pm NZT.
As it is a best of 4 series it will be hard for the Ferns to lose. This will require the Aussies to overcome the 25 point deficit they currently have by winning both games by large margins.
Football
A-League
The Auckland FC made a great start to their first ever game by winning 2-0 against Brisbane Roar.
The Phoenix got a 1 nil lead in the first half before Western United drew level in the 76th minute. The Phoenix were unable to gain the lead again with the game ending 1-1.

America’s Cup
Team NZ have won the America’s cup 7-2 in Barcelona.
Barcelona have ruled out hosting the event in 2026. We are unsure where the next event will take place. It appears they are wanting a venue that can cater for more team entries.

F1
Liam Lawson started his 2024 F1 season with an impressive result in the main race. Starting 19th in the field he worked his way up into the points finishing in 9th. He got past a few cars who ran into each other at the start and then used the one stop strategy perfectly.
He finished ahead of his teammate Yuki Tsunoda who finished in 14th.
Liam set the third fastest time in the first qualifying session and advanced to the second session. He did not put in a competitive effort in the second session as he had a 60 place grid penalty which would require him to start from the back.
He did assist Yuki by giving him a draft but it wasn’t good enough for Yuki to advance to the final qualifying session. Liams fastest lap was still faster than Yuli’s fastest lap even with the assistance.
Liam qualified in 15th for the sprint race and ended up dropping a place in to finish in 16th.
The Mexico City Grand Prix practice session starts at 7.30am NZ time on Saturday. The second practice session will then start at 11am.
Practice session 3 starts on Sunday at 6.30am before qualifying at 10am.
The race starts on Monday at 9am which will allow NZ fans to see it as it is Labour Day.
